Abstract

This research aims to determine the strategy of preserving rare collections of the industrial era 4.0 at the Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta Library and Museum. This includes policies, management, methods and strategies, as well as constraints and solutions in the process of preserving rare collections. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate (1) the Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta Library and Museum already has a policy regarding the preservation of rare collections, this policy is already in written form in the form of Standard Operating Procedures; (2) Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta Library and Museum has carried out a management process in accordance with the existing management theory in the form of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling; (3) Strategies and methods for preserving rare collections in the industrial era 4.0 are carried out in the form of Housekeeping nature in the form of environmental maintenance and collection storage rooms that have been equipped with Internet of Things technology, Deasester Preparedness plan, namely disaster management techniques and steps in the form of providing a Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR) and a standby team. disasters, transfer of information, namely the process of preserving information by mediating the intellectual contents of collections with a digitalization system, as well as cooperative actuation and the use of technology on a large scale, which is a preservation strategy in physical form in the form of mass deadification and the process of digitizing on a large scale; (4) Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta Library and Museum have problems in carrying out the process of preserving rare collections, this includes a funding management system, inadequate human resources, and materials used for the preservation process that must be imported so that they are difficult to obtain. However, libraries and museums continue to strive to provide solutions by increasing the capabilities of their human resources by participating in training and seminars, then always actively suggesting programs related to collection preservation in the agency environment.
