Abstract

This research aims to 1) know the flow and form of activities in village library mentoring; 2) know the implementation of mentoring at the village library; 3)know the obstacles in mentoring the village library; 4) know efforts to overcome obstacles. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The technique of determining informants used the purposive sampling technique. Data analysis in this study uses Miles Huberman's theory, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was tested by means of extended observations, increased persistence, member checks, triangulation of techniques, and triangulation of sources. The results showed that: 1) the flow of village library mentoring program was the provision of materials for assistants staff, field observations, sub-district coordination, swot analysis, implementation of mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. While the forms of mentoring activities include: mentoring in the establishing libraries, empowering managers with training, procurement and processing of library materials, library services, library promotions, advocacy and increasing public interest in reading; 2) the implementation of mentoring from one village to another is different, the mentoring will be adjusted to village conditions based on the results of observations and swot analysid by assistants. 3) the main obstacles to implementing village library mentoring is the lack of budget for village library operations and the lack of commitment from village library managers; 4) the efforts made to overcome these obstacles are to approaching and advocating with the village government until there is a policy regarding budgeting for village library operations, and providing training for village library managers. The result of this research provide recommendations to the village government in the Wonosobo district to further support the construction of the village library and to the ARPUSDA Office of Wonosobo to socialize about the importance of village library development.
