Abstract

Capital market has an important role in the economy of a country. Because, a good growth of the capital market condition will increase the economic growth of the country also. In the recent years, Islamic finance activities have attracted much attention of the world with the existence of a sharia capital market with one type of index is Jakarta Islamic Index (JII).Even though it is still relatively new, JII is growing very significantly. This is evidenced by the number of fatwas and new products released by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2000-2011. The goal of this research is to determine the influence of Inflation, Exchange Rate, BI Rate, Oil Prices, Gold Prices, and Indonesian Sharia Bank Certificates (SBIS) on Jakarta Islamic Index (JII). This research is using monthly time series data that covering the period from January 2010 to December 2020. The data analysis method used in this study is Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) that processed by Eviews 10. The result of this research shows that Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) is positively affected and significantly by Inflation, BI Rate, and Oil Prices in the long-term. Meanwhile, the variables of Exchange Rate, Gold Prices, and Bank Indonesia Syariah Certificates have a significant positive effect on JII. Then, in the short-term JII is not affected by all variables except exchange rate that have positively affect on JII.
