Abstract

SLB is a special educational institution that is intended for children with special needs in order to get the right service, this shows that ABK must get special services. The service is in the form of proper education for ABK, educators who are PLB graduates. However, in reality the problems that occur in the field are that there are still many teachers at SLB Gandasari who are not PLB graduates (Extraordinary Education), there are still many parents who are ashamed to have children with special needs and there are still many students who are not independent when they graduate from high school. SLB Gandasari. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the implementation of management skills development strategies for children with special needs in increasing independence in students at SLB Gandasari Jatibarang. This type of research is using a qualitative research type of phenomenology. This data collection technique uses observation, interview and documentation techniques. The subjects in this study were the principal, teachers, TU staff, students and parents of at SLB Gandasari Jatibarang. The results of this study indicate that: First, the implementation of management skills development strategies in increasing the independence of these students can be said to be quite good and good. Second, the management of this skill development strategy is very important to be applied at SLB Gandasari because with the development of skills at SLB Gandasari students can find their abilities and become provisions for their life skills after graduating from SLB Gandasari. Third, there is a significant increase in independence with the implementation of skills development. The increase is in the form of achievements in non-academic fields such as dancing competitions, angklung and fashion shows.
