Abstract

This research is motivated by the language skills of ADHD students in limited face-to-face learning activities, where students find it difficult to express what is in students' minds, the language is still not coherent, the alphabet is reversed. The problems studied in this study are the first how the concept of direct instruction strategy through a behavioral approach in developing the linguistic intelligence of ADHD students at the Pembina State Special School Yogyakarta, second how to apply the direct instruction strategy through a behavioral approach in developing the linguistic intelligence of ADHD students at the Pembina State Special School Yogyakarta. This research is a type of field research with a descriptive qualitative nature with a case study approach. The data sources of this study were the homeroom teacher of class, waka of the curriculum, the principal, students. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation. The results show that, firstly, the concept of direct instruction strategy through a behavioral approach in developing linguistic intelligence of ADHD students at SLB Negeri Pembina Yogyakarta starts from making lesson plans, where in RPP there is a simplification of verbs in the ADHD column. With the goal that ADHD students can be controlled, the material will be delivered well, and repetition of speaking skills can be done directly. Second, the application of the direct instruction strategy through a behavioral approach in developing the linguistic intelligence of ADHD students at SLB Negeri Pembina Yogyakarta, namely by referring to the instruments that have been developed, there is a development of students when limited face-to-face learning activities are carried out. Students are able to socialize, interact, interest in reading increases, students are able to tell the teacher about what they feel. Although the symptoms of ADHD still appear in students.
