Abstract

The study aims at developing an Arabic learning model on an interactive intelligence basis for MAN 1 students of Bandar Lampung. It is also meant to discover the effectiveness of that developed on an interactive and communicative competence basis. With the so-called 4D procedure (define, design, develop, and disseminate) introduced by Sivasailam Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Samuel, and Melvyn L. Semmel, this research took Arabic-taking students of MAN 1 Bandar Lampung subjects of the study to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. While observation sheets, interview, documentation, and questionnaire were the research instruments, interactive and communicative competence of each student was obtained through pre test and post test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that interactive intelligence-based learning model is feasible (80.56%). It passes validation test in which its minimum value (75%) was determined together. The results of experimental test are different – 88.42 and 75.94 for treatment and control respectively. T test – an instrument to test the significance of experiment and control difference – is used and shows a different (0.000 and 0.005). This means that interactive intelligence-based Arabic learning effectively improves interactive and communicative competence of every student in the experiment group.
