Abstract

The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on academic stress on students who are working on thesis. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and academic stress on students who are working on their thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The subjects in this study were students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga who were working on an online thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic with a minimum of 6 months of work. This research uses quantitative methods. The data was obtained by spreading the academic stress scale and social support scale to 100 students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga who were working on the thesis using quota sampling technique. The analysis used in this study is a simple regression analysis test. The results of this study indicate a significance level of 0.000 with a correlation coefficient of -0.707. This shows that the hypothesis in this study is accepted. Thus, the higher the social support, the lower the academic stress on students who are working on their thesis, and vice versa. The effective contribution of social support to academic stress is 50%. The implications of the results of this study indicate that there is a need for sufficient social support for students who are working on their thesis in order to minimize the possibility of academic stress.
