Abstract

This research is based on education in culture as a form of transfer of various types of culture in each generation. In fact, the lack of protection and regeneration carried out by cultural actors in the Janengan tradition, as well as the negative impact of technological developments so that there is a lack of interest and awareness of the younger generation towards local culture, as a result the tradition is threatened with "extinction". So there needs to be an in-depth understanding of the Janengan tradition which contains meaning in its implementation, poetry and musical instruments. This effort will be an additional insight for the surrounding community. This study aims to explain the concept, implementation, internalization of Islamic educational values including ideas, activities and works as well as the reasons for preserving the Janengan tradition from the perspective of Islamic education. This type of research is ethnographic research using qualitative analysis studies and educational anthropological scientific approaches. Data collection techniques using participant observation techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results this research state that: (1) the concept of the Janengan tradition includes the Janengan tradition as Javanese-Islamic traditional music in the form of prayers and Javanese poetry, the history of the Janengan tradition which reveals that the Janengan tradition was originally intended to spread Islam, the benefits of the Janengan tradition as a provider of historical heritage fragments, as a giver of community legitimacy as well as a provider of symbols in identity; (2) the implementation of the Janengan tradition consists of 3 main parts, namely the opening verse, the middle verse and the closing verse; the internalization of Islamic educational values in the Janengan tradition is shown through the poems read in the Janengan tradition, the value of faith (Sifat 20), moral values to Allah (Zikur Rulloh), worship values (Solawat Nabi, Bagus Endi, Sugih Endi, Digdaya Endi, Istighfar). Internalization of Islamic educational values in Janengan tradition activities is shown through every activity that occurs in the Janengan tradition such as sitting together and establishing friendship (moral values), reading Al-Fatihah, Tawassul and alms (worship value). While the internalization of Islamic educational values in human works, such as the Janengan musical instrument, which has five philosophies of fardhu prayer; (4) The reason for the preservation of the Janengan tradition is seen from the function of the Janengan tradition itself, namely the media for Islamic symbols, public entertainment facilities, community communication facilities, as a contribution to cultural preservation and stability as well as building community integrity. As for the function in the implementation of PAI, the Janengan tradition can be a learning medium that uses the basis of local wisdom.
