Abstract

His Study aims at identifying the alteration in interpreting the Islamic of gender. The data - collecting method is library research and the data-analyzing technique is hermeneutic. The outcome of the study shows that the classical interpretation of religious texts of gender has altered, particularly by the assertion of the contemporary Moslem feminist mufassirs (interpreters). Using the "Gender Analysis, the feminist mufassirs interpret the religious text of gender seriously different from that of classical mufassirs, resulting in the conviction thet women are equal to men. The underlying reason of using the "gender analysis" is the conviction thet Islam commits itself to justice. The inequality between men and women in different communities is not the nature of human being; rather, it is part of the socially constructed values resulted from the unequal gender relation
