Abstract

This research started from the author's interest in the podcast at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta which was used as a medium for disseminating information at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta since the covid-19 pandemic began to spread in Indonesia. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to discuss in depth the basic concepts of podcast, podcast management, and the use itself as a medium for disseminating information during the covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were determined using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques with six subjects consisting of a podcast supervisor, deputy head of the public relations section, chairman of the podcast committee, and also three students who were representatives from each level in SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta.In collecting data, researchers used interviews, observations and documentation conducted at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, in data analysis, the researcher used three stages in the form of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, the data validity techniques in this study used source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The podcast at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta or commonly called Pakci Podcast comes with the concept of educational and cultural podcasts. (2) Podcast management activities at SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta include: Planning by conducting large deliberation. Organizing by holding open recruitment. Direction by providing encouragement, motivation and also direction to the podcast crew. Supervision by evaluating the performance of the podcast crew. (3) Podcasts used by SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta as a medium for disseminating information are also used by listeners to obtain information. The information contained in the podcast can be heard well seen from the students of SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta who also respond well to the presence of the podcast in the midst of the current covid-19 pandemic situation. The implication of this research for SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta and other schools that have podcasts is that they can use social media to promote podcasts so that the wider community also gets information.
