Abstract

This study aims to 1) find out library anxiety 2) find out the factors causing library anxiety 3) and find out library efforts to minimize library anxiety. This research is a phenomenological qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The technique of determining the informants in this study used purposive sampling technique while the data analysis used used Miles Huberman's theory which consisted of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data in this study using the member check method, triangulation of sources, and reference materials. The results showed that 1) library anxiety felt by disabled users when accessing the library during the pandemic in the form of fear of the presence of the covid-19 virus, feelings of dependence on volunteers, and feelings of fear of not getting services as expected; 2) the factors that cause library anxiety for disabled users when accessing the library during the pandemic are obstacles with staf, affective barriers, comfort barriers, knowledge barriers and mechanical barriers. Barriers with staf in the form of lack of librarian skills, ignorance of users about the duties and functions of librarians, and the friendliness and attention of librarians who are considered to be lacking. Affective barriers are felt due to the lack of facility accessibility, and the unavailability of information on how to use the facilities. Convenience barriers in the form of lack of comfort support facilities, policies during the pandemic period that are implemented,. Knowledge barriers are caused because users do not fully know the facilities they can use. and finally mechanical barriers are felt due to the inappropriate interface of some digital facilities. 3) library efforts made to minimize library anxiety consist of implementing new policies during the pandemic, providing accessible facilities and infrastructure for users, providing special digital facilities for disabled users, holding user education activities, providing quality library human resources and collaborating with other parties.
