Abstract

The relationship between children and parents is able to form attachments. Attachment can affect the development of children in the future. Divorce is one that can affect attachment. This study aims to determine the description of adolescent attachment to divorced parents. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Collecting data using interviews and observations conducted on four informants consisting of one male and three female. Informants were obtained by purposive sampling. The results of the study explain that there are eight themes in describing the attachment between children and their parents, namely: 1) The informant's place of residence after the divorce 2) The difference in the attitudes of both parents to the informant after the divorce 3) The difference in the attitude of the informant to his parents 4) The informant's view of his parents 5) Parents' concern for informants 6) Parental communication with informants 7) Informants' disappointment with parents 8) Informants' assessment of the quality of relationships with parents. Factors that influence this attachment are environmental factors, activities spent with parents and the presence or absence of violence between parents and children. The results showed that the formation of insecure attachments to informants was caused by the attitude of parents who were not able to understand well, be indifferent to children and parents who are rude. Meanwhile, informants who have secure attachments are due to the attitude of parents who are able to meet their needs well, are reliable and are able to understand their children well.
