Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country that is still haunted poorness, some of these phenomena can be found in cities and villages, in every corner of the city we often encounter homeless people and buskers. One of the pictures that is interesting and in the spotlight is the silver human phenomena, this research is very urgent to do because of the lack literature related to silver humans and silver human self-concept picture which are the discussion points in this thesis. The purpose of this research knowing how silver humans self-concep is and what factor influence the formation of silver human self-concept. The purpose of this research knowing the silver human self-concept in Yogyakarta, the type of research is qualitative research, in the selection of subjects the author uses a random sampling technique which means the process of selecting informants is selected randomly, the data collection methods carried out in this study are observation, interviews and documentation, informan in this study amount 10 people. The result of the study show which causes the emergence of silver people on the streets is due to the lack of job opportunities for those who do not have special skils and low education. They choose the silver human because the majority of them are beggars who only change their appearance to silver color without changing their daily work. The profession of being a silver man greatly helps the familys economy, personal needs, the influence of friends and disharmony in the family. The picture of silver human life is described in three economic point of view, silver humans belongs to lower middle class economic category. From a social point of view, some of these silver people have quite good social relations with friends and neighbors, but some of them have poor family relationships because parents and children are busy working on the streets, lastly the education condition of silver people is not good because there are still some of them who don‟t go to school.
