Abstract

The background of this research is that legally, cancer survivors also have the right to education, even though these children must undergo regular treatment and chemotherapy, of course, their educational status must be considered. The concerns of parents and children when they are diagnosed with cancer or tumors certainly lead to complex polemics, one of which is that children who already have educational status in formal institutions do not want to stay in class, do not want to miss lessons, and do not want to leave school. The International Agency for Research on Cancer states that one child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes globally. Given these problems, it is necessary to have a policy in providing proper education for children with cancer survivors, both general and religious materials, especially PAI. In Indonesia, currently there is a foundation, namely Yayasan Kasih Anak Cancer Indonesia, which is located in 8 cities. It has a vision of giving children the right to learn and the right to play with cancer survivors through the My School program. All forms of curriculum policies, especially PAI that are in the spotlight of researchers to be studied and understand how the implementation of these policies contribute to children with cancer survivors. This type of research is qualitative research and in terms of data collection is a field research. The source of data from this research is direct information from several informants according to the needs of the researcher. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis of this research is by reducing the data, presenting the data and then varying it to draw conclusions using triangulation. The results of this study state that school policies regarding the PAI curriculum are based on social and psychological principles by reviewing the psychological condition of cancer children with chemotherapy schedules so that the PAI curriculum is carried out adaptively with substantive material. The implementation of the policy is that the PAI curriculum focuses on students where when entering the chemotherapy schedule students are not given a learning burden, but after completion of chemo, short basic materials are given by packing material from the student's home school so that the material can be completed properly. My School's contribution to children with cancer is very clear with various answers from students who have recovered and their parents that they can continue their education at their original school with materials that are in accordance with the curriculum of their original school so that during treatment they reduce their worries about their educational status.
