Abstract

Libraries as a means of information sources participate in utilizing information technology. The application of information technology in libraries gave birth to the term digitalization system and library automation. In this paper, we will discuss the migration of the library automation system at the Yogyakarta City Library. This study aims to determine the purpose of the Yogyakarta City Library's automated migration from Sirpus to INLISLite v3. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were the Yogyakarta City Library, Siprus, INLISLite v3, and informants. The object of this research is the migration of the Yogyakarta City Library automation system. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the migration of the automation system in the Yogyakarta City Library was carried out for managerial and technical reasons. Migration of the automation system in the Yogyakarta City Library is assisted by a third party by re-entering the book collection data that previously existed in the Siprus automation system to INLISLite v3. However, there are differences in the data structure, so the data structure must be equalized. Then the obstacles faced when performing automation system migration activities are managerial, such as limited human resources (HR). Both technical errors occur when updating the application. Suggestions for the Yogyakarta City Library to increase human resources and train existing staff to have special competencies in the field of library automation in order to develop an existing automation system. We recommend that library technicians use an application that can match the data structure to facilitate the migration and interoperability process
