Abstract

This study is inspired by the occurrence of events that have an impact on the quality of values in character education in Indonesia, which must develop year after year. This is evidenced by an increase in crime, human rights violations, judicial injustice, and environmental degradation in diverse locations. The moral and character crises among students has become a reality in the realm of Indonesian education. One of the causes of this occurrence is a lack of awareness and habituation of character qualities among individuals. President Joko Widodo sponsored the effort to develop character education through the National Movement for Mental Revolution (GNRM). The President then asked the Minister of Education and Culture to make character education a priority in schools. This study aims to: 1) determine the strategy of strengthening character education used in building moral intelligence of grade XI students at SMK Karya Rini Yogyakarta; 2) describe the implementation of strengthening character education that can build moral intelligence of grade XI students at SMK Karya Rini Yogyakarta; and 3) analyze the results of the implementation of strengthening character education in building moral intelligence for grade XI students at SMK Karya Rini. This research method is based on the qualitative descriptive approach. The data used in this study were obtained through interviews with the Principal, Waka Curriculum, Islamic Religious Education Teacher, PPKN Teacher, and students at SMK Karya Rini Yogyakarta. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation. Other ways include observing events that occur in daily activities as part of the implementation of character education to improve students' moral intelligence at SMK Karya Rini Yogyakarta. This study also employs triangulation of techniques and sources. The phases in studying this data include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings of this investigation are: 1) Planning Strengthening character education at SMK Karya Rini involves three steps, which are planning, execution, and evaluation. Furthermore, the stages involved in implementing character education in schools are: Integrating PPK into the curriculum, establishing the core values of PPK, and creating daily/weekly schedules; 2) Strengthening character education at SMK Karya Rini is implemented through class-based activities and school culture-based habituation, employing learning methods and tactics to teach character values and promote moral intelligence in pupils; 3) The outcomes of Strengthening Character Education at SMK Karya Rini include increased understanding of character values among school residents, increased concern for one another, and the creation of a positive learning environment.
