Abstract

Religion be like clothes that will be used in throughtout life, for this reason, the religious values that be taught in a family will have a huge impact on children growth, both of the cognitive development, emotions and attitudes of children in their religiosity. However, the children who have parents in different religions will be have a probability to get nonoptimal inculcation of religion values. Because of the parents with different religions often provide religious education to the children in a different way. And these differences will generate the religiosity conflict in children side, where the children are prosecuted into choosing between two religions,then it will makes the children confused about which one to believe in, and they have to accept the consequences of their choice. The religiosity conflict that occur will interrupt the formation process of religiosity in children. This research has purpose to provide an overview about the experience of children with parents in different religions that have religiosity conflict and have completed it successfully. This research is a qualitative research by used descriptive-analytic technique. The main subject of the research are 5 people with age 19-27 which have parents in different beliefs. The result of this research are: 1) The overview of religiosity conflict that experienced by the children in form of hesitation and worries. The conflict is an intrapersonal conflict in the form of approach to approach conflict and approach-avoidance conflict. 2) The factors that influence the existence of conflict are : the education of two religions in the family, the freedom to choose religion, the cognitive development, the parents divorce, the death of one parent, the educational environment, the hope of big family, and the negative perseption of society. 3) The religiosity conflicts have impact to the children, where the children close themselves off, skeptical of religious activities, leave the obligation in religion until religious pluralism. 4) The resolving process of children’s religiosity conflicts in exploration and commitment element show the conditions are in sync with one and another and have high value. Furthermore the conflict resolution efforts faced by children with their parents or family, the children used two strategies are compromise and collaborative.
