Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the library program at SMKN 1 Tembilahan, to identify changes in the mindset of school residents after the library program, and to see the impact of changes in mindset experienced by school residents. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with sampling techniques using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques use observation methods, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data validity test is carried out using source triangulation, data collection technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The results of this study are: 1) the library program owned by the library of SMKN 1 Tembilahan has referred to the function of the library, namely the administrative function, informative function, educational function, the creative function of the actors involved, namely the head of the library, library staff and the principal. these actors have capital such as social capital, economic capital, cultural capital, and symbolic capital. With the capital that each actor has, it creates a new mindset for the library. 2) The change in mindset that occurred in the residents of SMK Negeri 1 Tembilahan about libraries, namely that once the library was only considered as a place to store package books, now the mindset has changed too, a library where various reading resources are stored, a library as a comfortable place for learning, a library as a place to increase literacy, a library as a place for recreation/entertainment and a library as a multifunctional place. 3) Changes in the mindset of school residents have a positive impact on libraries, namely increasing the number and quality of collections owned by libraries, increasing collection lending, increasing visits made by school residents, having competent library staff, and utilizing diverse library spaces. The impact on school residents increases their interest in visits to the library, the increase reading interest of school residents, and increases the literacy of school residents.
