Abstract

The practice of Islamic counseling guidance in its development, is carried out in various agencies in order to meet human spiritual needs and solve certain problems through the role of counselors. Including hospitals, Islamic counseling guidance is needed as a non-medical treatment in order to meet the spiritual needs of the patient and encourage him to recover. This thesis examined the practice of Islamic counseling guidance initiated by hospitals in Indonesia. Specifically, this thesis traces the practice of Patient Spiritual Guidance (BRP) at the Zainab Mother and Child Hospital (RSIA) Pekanbaru which is seen as a form of islamic counseling guidance practice and proselytizing in hospitals. This thesis is a qualitative research with field studies. The data in this study were obtained from observations, documentation and interviews. The informants in this study were 10 people, consisting of three managers of the patient's spiritual guidance program, including the HRD and General Manager of RSIA Zainab, the Manager of Islamic Service Guidance and the Sharia Supervisory Board. Two Sharia Committee members as implementers and counselors in the patient spiritual guidance program at RSIA Zainab, and five inpatients as counselors or targets for implementing the patient's spiritual guidance program. Interviews were conducted to obtain information about the implementation of the program and to get their experience in the process of implementing the guidance program. In addition to the interviews, the authors have observed directly and documented the processes of implementing patient spiritual guidance at RSIA Zainab Pekanbaru, as well as other activities related to this study. Other data in this study were obtained from documents or archives of RSIA Zainab in the form of records of the implementation of patient spiritual guidance programs, and were also taken from books and journal articles that discussed Islamic counseling guidance and proselytizing in hospitals. All data are grouped based on themes, analyzed and written in each chapter and subdiscussion in this thesis. This thesis found that the practice of patient spiritual guidance at RSIA Zainab is the main program of the Islamic Service Guidance service available at RSIA Zainab. The implementation of the patient's spiritual guidance is a separate part and is included in the non-medical services at RSIA Zainab. The implementation of the patient's spiritual guidance at RSIA Zainab is carried out by the Sharia Committee which acts as a dai and counselor. This program aim for all RSIA Zainab inpatients which include maternal, child and general patients as well as the patient's family. The spiritual guidance of patients at RSIA Zainab aim to meet the spiritual needs of patients with the motives of proselytizing and worship, work and responsibility as well as motives of service and social care. Its implementation is realized in the form of guidance and services. The form of guidance includes tazkirah guidance, worship guidance, zikir and prayer guidance, guidance for patients with special needs, such as childbirth patients, and guidance for death saccharine patients. Forms of services include spiritual consultation and counseling services as well as ruhiah fostering services. All forms of guidance and services are aimed at patients in order to meet the spiritual needs of patients through guidance and proselytizing agendas that are collaborated with medical services in hospitals to encourage the patient's recovery process.
