Abstract

The review of maqāṣid ash-syarī'ah is important in all aspects of human life, including Islamic financial institutions or Islamic banking. Islamic banks are one of the business units and are very likely to face risks. The most important risk faced by Islamic banking is the risk of non-performing financing (NPF). NPF, if not managed properly, will result in bankruptcy. Bankruptcy, of course, can harm customers, investors, and the economy. Thus, taking preventive action against the risks that will occur in Islamic banking financing is necessary. This study will examine the correlation and influence of the variables of Inflation, Exchange Rate, Industrial Sector, Return on Assets (ROA), Finance to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Total Assets, Mudarabah Financing, Musyarakah Financing and Financing Analysis on the NPF of Islamic Banks for the period of 2011 -2019, and a review of maqāṣid ash-syarī'ah on financing risk management in Islamic banking. This study uses two approaches to answering research problems. First, using a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. This approach uses secondary data from Islamic banking statistics to identify the situation of the factors that affect the NPF. The population in this study is Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) and Sharia Business Units (UUS) in Indonesia in the period from January 2011 to December 2019, with a total of 108 samples. As the data analysis technique, it uses a multiple linear regression analysis tool approach with the Partial Adjustment Model (PAM) approach. Second, qualitative approach with library research method. A literature study is used to answer the formulation of problems related to the review of maqāṣid asy-syarī’ah in the risk management of Islamic bank financing in Indonesia, especially in financing analysis carried out by Islamic banking parties. This study produces important findings that the variables of the Industrial Sector, Total Assets, Mudarabah Financing, and Financing Analysis affect NPF in Islamic banking. These four variables are derived from internal factors; therefore, banks need to be careful of factors that arise from within. In contrast, the variables of Inflation, Exchange Rate, ROA, FDR, and Musyarakah Financing have no effect on NPF in Islamic banking in the period 2011-2019. The review of maqāṣid ash-syarī'ah from ash-Syātībī’s theory on financing risk management carried out by banks in the form of financing analysis is an action that is not contradictory and in line with qaṣdu ash-syari’. The act of Islamic banking as the mukallaf doing financing analysis is for the purpose of risk reduction in avoiding the occurrence of non-performing financing in Islamic banking. Therefore, between the actions of the banking party and the purpose of taking actions according to and not contrary to sharia
