Abstract

Is lamic boarding school is one of the institutions of Islamic religious education which is still considered by gender activists to abandon the doctrines of gender inequality, including the problem of husband and wife relations because in terms of the educati onal curriculum and learning materials that look stagnant and do not show any effort to change according to the demands of the times . Departing from these problems, the authors are interested in conducting research on the views of students on husband and w ife relations at the Sabilurrosya d Islamic boarding school in Malang, where this Islamic boarding school looks different from other Islamic boarding schools in terms of the background of the students and their activities. This research is a type of field research that seeks to describe the object of research validly so that interview and observation methods are needed in digging up the data . The informants used in this study were the students of the Sabillurosyah Islamic Boarding School, male and female The results obtained in this study are the legal references used in opinion by the Sabilurrosyad Islamic boarding school students are generally divided into two, namely legal references to the opinions of scholars contained in the books of the Salaf and le gal references to contemporary scholars. Based on these legal references, a conclusion emerges that the thoughts of the students of the Sabilurrosyad Islamic boarding school are divided into two, namely thoughts that still maintain a legal and cultural con cept that has been formulated since ancient times by scholars or called traditional thinking and thoughts that use modern legal and cultural concepts formulated by contemporary scholars or called modern thinking.
