Abstract

This research aims to find out how persuasive communication is carried out by Pendidik at SLB Puspa Melati, Tepus, Gunungkidul in increasing students’ motivation. This is because, when students' motivation is not there, it tends to decrease or weaken. Therefore, through a persuasive communication approach, it can be a way to increase the motivation of students, especially people with disabilities. This research describes the persuasive communication carried out by Pendidik at SLB Puspa Melati in increasing motivation of student to be able to be confident, open and survive. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The sources of data obtained from the results of in-depth interviews, observations and documentation involving 4 Pendidik at SLB Puspa Melati while to test the validity of the data using the triangulation method. The results of this research indicate that Pendidik at SLB Puspa Melati use persuasive communication techniques in generating students motivation. There are: Teknik Asosiasi, Integrasi, Tataan, Ganjaran, and Red-Hirring. According to the result of this research, Pendidik use 5 persuasive communication techniques in increasing student motivation.
