Abstract

Today, the increased volume of vehicles causing traffic congestion, particularly in urban areas. The condition is closely with traffic management issues at the intersection of the highway. Traffic light control systems existing conventional today, just walking by setting predetermined by the officer so often happens queue DLLAJ uneven across the intersection. Therefore, it needs a new traffic light control system adaptive to cope with the condition. Departure from these conditions, the authors propose research to create a prototypetraffic light control systemusing the results capture the traffic conditions in every highway interchange from CCTV cameras. Capture the results are then processed using digital image processing method to obtain the extraction of image capture such as the number of white pixels and black pixels. The number of white pixels and black pixels then used as inputs of neural networks. From the research that has been carried out found that the prototype of a traffic light control system that uses digital image processing is supported by a neural network as pattern recognition density, able to recognize the pattern density with a success rate of 100% in the Matlab simulation test data, and has a success rate of 70 % in simulated real conditions on the highway with mockups threshold value of 120, as well as the construction of artificial neural network with two hidden layers and one output layer activation functions such as sigmoid each binary.
