Abstract

Single parents have more challenges in building family strenght. Family strenght is a measure of the strength of a family with the ability to manage every resource in the family. Therefore, this study aims to find out how the dynamics of family strenght of a divorced single parent and what are the factors that affect the family strenght of a divorced single parent. Subjects in this study amounted to 5 people. This study uses a qualitative research type. The approach used for this research is a phenomenological approach. This study uses a snowball sampling technique in finding informants. The data collection technique used in this research is the method of observation and interviews. The criteria for the informants in this study were to become a single parent. Based on the results of the study, there are several findings, namely the dynamics of family strenght that is different for each informant, such as focusing on active communication, happiness, efforts to be close to children, strengthening and understanding each other, and enriching gratitude. Supporting factors that affect family strenght in the five informants are children and God and inhibiting factors such as the economy and mental health of children after divorce. An interesting finding in this study was that the five informants had no desire to remarry.
