Abstract

Globalization, which is increasingly widespread and accessible today, has also led to the development of culture between countries and communities. This study discusses and explores social phenomena from globalization and cultural acculturation that occur in society, namely K-Pop and fanaticism. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation and documentation techniques. There are four informants involved in this study and are fans of K-Pop idol groups. The results of this study indicate that individual fanaticism is very diverse, such as conformity to their idols by matching their idol's mindset, clothing, or speaking style. In addition, the four informants revealed that fans were disturbing their privacy and threatening the safety of their idols so that it could be categorized as obsessive behavior. This study also found that the dimensions contained in fanaticism such as aspects, characteristics and factors have similarities with the dimensions contained in celebrity worship and parasocial interaction behavior.
