Abstract

Culturally, the Tolaki Tribe has a variety of customs and customs that are still carried out today, one of which is at the wedding procession. The Tolaki people believe the wedding procession is a sacred ritual wrapped in a mythical message that develops in it. This belief has given rise to debate among people who do not believe in this, and prefer to use wedding processions without custom. No doubt it makes elopement to avoid the customary ordinances of the Tolaki Tribe which are considered protracted and costly. The phenomenon that occurs from the traditional wedding procession of the Tolaki Tribe is a matter of culture or meaning. The misunderstanding in interpreting the message in the traditional wedding procession of the Tolaki Tribe, is not an event that arises out of thin air, but an emergence caused by the complexity of the context issue. The purpose of this study is to explore people's views on the traditional wedding procession of tolaki. analyze the mythical message represented in it and explain and understand the existing communication process. This research uses qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the process of social construction of the community to the mythical message in the series of traditional tolaki wedding procession ceremonies was influenced due to different levels of religious education and social experiences. This mythical message throughout the entire series of traditional wedding ceremonial processions describes the cultural situation associated with the tolaki tribe which is interpreted as an event of determining the continuity of good name and social status in a family. Therefore, people refuse to view marriage as a matter of "risking the good name" of the family. Meanwhile, in the traditional procession based on the results of the relationship of communication components, broadly speaking there are two forms of communication patterns. First, the Communication Pattern of traditional Tolaki marriage is closed. Second, The pattern of marriage communication is open. However, if you look at the explanation of the communication components, from the existing communication patterns, it can still be lowered to the Communication Pattern before the traditional procession of Mondongo Niwule, and the Communication Pattern in the Mowindahako wedding traditional procession.
