Abstract

A tsunami wave as high as 20 M occurred after a large earthquake. This news emerged as a flashlight problem, namely based on the findings of the BMKG Bandung and ITB teams who had conducted research on the potential for large earthquakes (Sindonews, 2020). Departing from the problems above, the researcher formulates the problem of how disaster communication is carried out by the BPBD of Pacitan Regency in tsunami threat preparedness in the Pacitan city community. In this study, researchers used qualitative research methods using effective communication theory according to Haddow, namely there are four: Customer Focus, Leadership Commitment, Situational Awareness and Media Partnership. From the results of this study, it was explained that the BPBD carried out Mapping, Data Collection and Collection of Village Heads. In accordance with the Haddow and Haddow Customer Focus theory, the BPBD conducts fast and precise communication. Then BPBD's efforts to gain trust by explaining the source of information from the BMKG. BPBD Pacitan Regency communicates using radio, online media and print media.
