Abstract

Smartphone help students to get information related to the knowledge of the lessons learned. However, students are often unable to control themselves in using smartphone, so it can have a negative impact, namely the tendency to nomophobia. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-control and nomophobia among junior and senior high school students in DIY. The research uses quantitative correlational methods. The sampling technique used was snowball and the amount of samples in this research was 161 students. Data collection in this research used 2 scale measuring instruments, namely the nomophobia scale (25 items, α= 0,887) and the self-control scale (22 items, α= 0,900). The data analysis in this research is spearman correlation. The results of spearman correlation analysis showed significance values of 0.182 > 0.05 wichmeans that there is no correlation between self-control and nomophobia in junior and senior high school students. It can be concluded that high or low levels of self-control will not affect nomophobia in junior and senior high school students.
