Abstract

Physics learning is easy for students to understand when it is relate to natural phenomena in every day life. Based on the problem this study aims to: (1) produce a STEM Cofe Geumi module on mechanical wave material for SMA / MA class XI, (2) find out the quality of the Cofe Geumi STEM module on mechanical wave material that has been developed, (3) find out the student responses and implementation tests to the STEM Cofe Geumi module on mechanical wave material, (4) find out the effectiveness of the STEM Cofe Geumi module on student learning motivation on mechanical wave material. This research is a Research and Development or R&D. Development procedure for this research using a 4-D development model includes stages: (1) Define, (2) Design, (3) Develop, and (4) Disseminate. Research instruments are in the form of instrument and product validation sheets, assessment sheets, student response sheets, implementation observation sheets, pre-test and post-test sheets for student learning motivation. The assessment of module quality and student learning motivation uses a likert scale with a scale of 4 while student responses use a Guttman scale made in the form of a checklist. The implementation of the module uses a descriptive observation sheet. The result of this research is the STEM Cofe Geumi (Contextual Fenomena Gempa Bumi) module on mechanical wave material. The quality of the STEM Cofe Geumi module on mechanical wave material based on assessments from science experts, graphic experts and physics teachers can be categorized as SB (very good quality) with an average score of each assessor of 3.48; 3,32; and 3.50. Student responses to the small field and the large field obtained the S (Agree) criteria with the average score of 1.00 and 0.93 respectively. As a result of the implementation of the module, some students still need help in answering the questions. The effectiveness of the module is categorized as quite effective with an N-gain value of 0.58 medium category. The improve of student learning motivation before and after using the STEM Cofe Geumi module of mechanical wave material by 23.73%.
