Abstract

Democratic parenting style opens opportunities for children to be more open with their parents, so parents can more easily shape and teach and apply character to their children, parents can directly practice good characters and set examples directly with their environment, so children will follow what their parents did to them. This is what underlies researchers to conduct further research on how parents shape the character of children who are taught at the home, but researchers also limit the application of parenting parents at home using democratic parenting. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between democratic parenting and the formation of early childhood character in TK Al-Azhar 6 Jatimulyo. This research was a quantitative study with a correlation research design. The research sample consisted of 29 children, the data collection technique used a questionnaire. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. In this study, data analysis techniques were used, namely statistical prerequisite tests for presenting data using the normality test, linearity test and product moment correlation for hypothesis testing. The results of this study showed that the product moment correlation data obtained was obtained by significant test results with the t test, the coefficient obtained by the tcount was 0.652 with a significance of 0.772. The next step is to consult the value of tcount with ttable at a significance level of 5%, if tcount ≤ ttable, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted and if tcount ≤ ttable, then H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. In the calculation of the table above, it was found that n equal to 29 indicating a significance level of 5% ttable of 0.367. Based on the analysis test above, it is known that at a significance level of 5% it shows the value of tcount ≤ ttable, namely 0.652 ≥ 0.367. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between the relationship between democratic parenting and the development of early childhood character in Al-Azhar 6 Jatimulyo Kindergarten.
