Abstract

Choosing the right teacher strategy can attract children's interest so that the level of achievement of child development increases. One way that can be used is to play outdoors. The importance of outdoor play is still under-noticed, and is considered a meaningless activity. In fact the teacher should be able to choose learning strategies. The purpose of this study is to describe teacher strategies to improve children's cognitive through outdoor play activities. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data analysis techniques for research by noting, describing a symptom, event, and event that is happening at this time. Data analysis in the form of data presentation and discussion was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The data sources in this study were school principals, 2 class teachers and 29 BEC Creative PAUD students. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation, and documentation methods. The results of the study show that the teacher's strategy applied to improve children's cognitive through outdoor play activities is quite good. This can be seen from the cognitive development of children who are getting better and their interest in learning is increasing. Appropriate teacher strategies can increase cognitive abilities such as children being able to express the information they get, children retelling their experiences, children being able to express opinions and feelings. Based on this, the teacher's planning in learning, managing the learning environment, learning evaluation that is applied can achieve learning objectives where outdoor play activities that are applied by the teacher can improve children's cognitive. Besides that, the impact of achieving learning goals is that children are able to distinguish the forms around them, children are able to learn new things, children can sharpen their memory by making memories and finally children are able to make their own decisions
