Abstract

The research which was conducted in the village of Gununggajah Bayat, Klaten, Central Java, aims to determine the distribution pattern of magnetic field anomalies and identify subsurface structures. Gununggajah Village is an area traversed by subsurface geological structures in the form of faults. This study uses a magnetic method with an area of 2 km × 1 km for as many as 180 measurement points. The data obtained were corrected for daily variation and IGRF correction to obtain magnetic field anomalies. The magnetic field anomaly map was then filtered for regional-local anomalies using the Butterworth filter in the Oasis Montaj software. The next process is a reduction to the poles to eliminate the dipole effect and an upward continuation to eliminate the influence of local anomalies. 2D modeling is carried out by analyzing regional magnetic field anomalies as a result of upward continuation with a height of 250 m. The results showed that the total magnetic field anomaly value ranged between -43.8 nT – 608.3 nT. The results of 2D modeling show that the research area is dominated by 4 main rock formations, namely the Pendul Diorite formation, Malihan Rock, Wonosari formation, and Tua Alluvium formation. The value of sandstone susceptibility in the Old Alluvium formation is 0 to 0.00001 in SI. Limestone in the Wonosari formation has a susceptibility value of 0.0003 to 0.002 in SI. The rock layer below is a metamorphic rock with the type of schist which has a susceptibility value of 0.003 to 0.016 in SI. Pendul diorite is under the metamorphic rock with a susceptibility value of 0.026 to 0.070 in SI. Based on modeling and seeing the conditions in the field in the study area there are faults. This type of fault is a normal fault, where the part that remains is on the west side of the fault and the part that goes down on the east side of the fault.
