Abstract

The low reading interest of elementary school children is a problem that occurs today. This is due to several factors, namely the lack of places to carry out affordable reading activities, lack of examples from the environment, lack of teacher assistance to students in literacy and not optimal teacher appreciation and assessment of students in improving reading skills and no evaluation of the implementation of program activities that are more good. So that the impact on students does not increase because they cannot read. The rapid development of the current era, especially in technological developments, has made the learning process even more advanced, including increasing interest in reading. With these technological advances, teachers can easily increase students' interest in reading by using accessible tools, such as digital reading corners. This study uses the R&D (Research and Development) research method developed by Robert Maribe Brach using five stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. This research was conducted at SD Negeri Ringinsari with the research target of class III students, totaling 26 students. Instruments and data collection in this study used data from the assessment of design experts, linguists, teacher assessment and pre-test and post-test. This research resulted in the concept of a digital reading corner, which was considered very feasible to use to increase students' reading demand in elementary schools. This can be seen based on the assessment carried out by the validation of instrument experts, namely design experts, linguists, and teacher response assessments. This digital reading corner obtained feasibility in design validation of 94%, language validation with 94% results, and teacher assessment results obtained 98%. This digital reading corner serves users to read with several applications in it, so users can choose which application to use to meet their needs. These applications are the iPusnas application, the Wattpad application, the Google Play Books application, the Nook application and the Amazon Kindle application. An increase in reading interest can be seen based on the results of the pretest and post-test of class III students of SD Negeri Ringinsari.results The pre-test were 30.42 and there was an increase in the post-test, which were 39.50, which means that this digital reading corner has an effect on increasing reading interest in class III students of SD Negeri Ringinsari. This can also be seen from the enthusiasm of students when reading, borrowing books on the applications used and the attention of students.
