Abstract

The emotional unpreparedness of the students caused by the existence of an educational program has an impact on the achievements of the students. Therefore, in an educational institution, especially Islamic boarding schools, it is necessary to introduce and strengthen ESQ (Emotional Spiritual Quotient) to students. It is hoped that the students are ready to learn so that the vision and mission of the Islamic boarding school is achieved. The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of foreign language-based learning in optimizing the students' ESQ (Emotional Spiritual Quotient). The type of research method used by researchers is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques in research using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Milles and Huberman technique, through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. In testing the validity of the data by extending observations, increasing persistence, triangulation, reference materials, and member checks. Sources of research data on primary data were 1 school principal, 1 curriculum deputy, 2 language coordinators, 16 students. The secondary data is in the form of photos, audio recordings, and related documents. The results of the study show that learning management is based on foreign languages in optimizing the students' ESQ (Emotional Spiritual Quotient). First, the application of the concept of foreign language-based learning management at Pondok Tahfidz Yanbuul Qur'an Menawan Kudus Santri has implemented management functions according to Robbin and Coulter including planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling. Second, the implications of foreign language-based learning management in optimizing the ESQ of students for individuals, students in the early class feel not ready for the rules made, while students in the final class have experienced many benefits. The implications for the organization, Pondok can realize the vision, mission and goals that are made with synergy between the parties involved. The implications for the community, the achievements achieved make people interested in sending their children to the boarding school.
