Abstract

The Nyadran Laut tradition is a celebration carried out by fishermen on the coast of Celong beach, Banyuputih District, Batang Regency as a form of gratitude for the abundance of sustenance and safety from God. The implementation of the Nyadran Laut tradition at Celong Beach is carried out in the month of Muharam. This is done as a form of gratitude for the abundant sea products, as well as the safety that God has bestowed on the fishermen. The core procession of the Nyadran Laut tradition itself is carried out by throwing a goat's head and several offerings into the middle of the sea, after which it is continued with a joint prayer led by local elders. The focus of this research is (1) to find out how the Nyadran Laut is practiced in Kedawung Village, Banyuputih District, Batang Regency?. What is the analysis of the views of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figures and the Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute (LDII) in the Banyuputih District area, regarding the practice of the Nyadran Laut tradition that occurs among Muslims? This type of research is field research, where data is collected from locus (lapamgan) using several methods, namely observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by comparative analysis, which is an analysis that is guided by efforts to compare two or more variables. Furthermore, this study uses the theory of 'urf as a scalpel in the analysis. The results of this study are the Nahdlatul Ulama figure allowed the Nyadran Laut tradition because the requirements of 'urf were fulfilled with the condition that one must always be careful and avoid things that cause polytheism. In contrast to figures from the Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute, they argue that they do not do this because of the thin gap of polytheism and extravagance. The Nyadran Laut tradition is analyzed from the opinions of the leaders and examined using the theory of 'urf by doing because it complies with the requirements of 'urf and there has been an assimilation process with Islamic culture by eliminating things that are contrary to syara'.
