Abstract

The existence pandemic of covid-19 caused a change in learning to distance learning. This learning change causes many problems for students. If the problem is not resolved in a long time it will cause academic burnout. This research aims to determine the relationship between big five personality dimensions with academic burnout in private junior high school students of "X" in Banyumas Regency during distance learning. The subjects of this research were 61 students in private junior high school of "X" in Banyumas Regency during distance learning using purposive sampling technique. The hypothesis of this research is a relationship between dimensions of big five personality with the academic burnout in private junior high school students of "X" in Banyumas Regency during distance learning. The data analysis method uses multiple regression. The results showed that two of big five personality dimensions had a significant relationship with academic burnout, that is conscientiousness and extraversion. Conscientiousness were significantly negatively related to academic burnout. That is, the higher level of conscientiousness, the lower academic burnout and vice versa. Extraversion were significantly negatively related to academic burnout. That is, the higher level of extraversion, the lower academic burnout and vice versa. While other of three dimensions, which are openness to experience, agreeableness, and neuroticism are not significantly related with academic burnout. The effective contribution given by conscientiousness is 35.3% and extraversion is 4.4% to the academic burnout in private junior high school students of "X" in Banyumas Regency during distance learning and the remaining 60.3% is influenced by other factors.
