Abstract

Islam encourages people to be careful in their actions, thoughts and words. This is so that a person is more introspective and not trapped in his own mistakes. One effort that can be done is to be wara'. Wara' can be applied by anyone, but usually people who are in the pesantren environment understand more about the application of wara' because they are more deeply involved in religious sciences. This research was conducted in the female dormitory of the As-Salafiyyah Takhasus Mlangi Islamic Boarding School, because the pesantren is a salaf Islamic boarding school, which means that this pesantren tends to focus on the yellow book method. Researchers saw a correlation between the issue of wara' in As-Salafiyyah Takhasus Mlangi Islamic Boarding School and the meaningfulness of life. In short, Victor Frankl explained that the meaning of life cannot be created but must be found. Researchers see that through the application of wara' a person can find the meaning of his life with various stages that must be passed. This research utilizes qualitative methodologies in addition to descriptive analysis gathered from a variety of written and unwritten sources (oral). The information provided by the relevant informants through interviews constitutes the primary data source. The researcher conducted interviews with a boarding school caretaker, two female dorm administrators, and four female students. Then, for secondary data, the researcher acquired information from the relevant scholarly literature. Techniques for interviewing, observing, and documenting are used in the data collection process. This research used sufistic analysis to examine Wara’s attitudes towards female students at the As-Salafiyyah Takhasus Mlangi Islamic Boarding School, as well as to identify the meaning of life inherent within it. This research concludes that the application of wara' at the As-Salafiyyah Takhasus Mlangi Islamic Boarding School can help a person to achieve and determine the meaning of the life of the santri. This is because the wara' makes a santri more productive in carrying out positive activities, then by being wara' santri can also abstract the knowledge that has been obtained from the pesantren. Thefactors that can influence the achievement of meaningful life for a student at the As-Salafiyyah Takhasus Mlangi Islamic Boarding School are: 1. Self-awareness, 2. The environment in the Islamic boarding school (includes: caregivers and administrators, friendship, Islamic boarding school activities, and learning methods at Islamic boarding school), 3. Activities outside the pesantren (include: educational institutions/campuses, friendships, parents).
