Abstract

Batu Myth: Rain Ritual G – rain film adapted from a true story about the phenomenon of the charmer of rain that occurred in the Batu Malang community. Tells the story of a husband and wife who are neighbors with a clothes laundry service entrepreneur. These two parties have opposite needs for rain at the same time so that the community believes that rain can be brought in or kept away as needed in various ways by the rain handler. This study tries to answer the formulation of the problem "What is the semiotic meaning of the local wisdom of the rain charmer in the film Stone Myth: G–rain Rain Ritual This study uses qualitative research methods, and the theory used is Roland Barthes' Semiotics theory. Data collection techniques in this study were collected by documentation and interview methods. From the results of observations in the film, it was found that at least 11 scenes depicting the meaning of the local wisdom of the rain charmer, the meaning of the rain charmer appears through dialogue scenes, attitudes and physical signs through the setting of time and place.
