Abstract

In this thesis, the researcher took the theme of the polemic of Christmas greetings in interpersonal communication in the Cinta Damai village community. The Cinta Damai village community itself is dominated by the Islamic community, every year in the village the polemic of Christmas greetings is always a debate between the people, some allow it and some prohibit it. From these problems the researcher wants to analyze how interpersonal communication occurs in this community and how does this community interpret the polemic with the aim of knowing how interpersonal communication is established and formed by the Cinta Damai village community with the polemic wishing Merry Christmas in the village. Besides that, it is also how the village community uses polemics for and against these differences of opinion. The theory that will be used in this study is the theory of interpersonal communication from Suranto AW, and reception theory from Stuart Hall which is the theory. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Qualitative method as a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from observable people or behavior. As for data collection techniques, researchers use observation, interview, and documentation techniques.
