Abstract

Islamic religious programs on television have become shows that are liked by the people of Yogyakarta Province. However, there are local television stations whose religious broadcast content does not meet the Guidelines. Broadcasting Behavior. and. Standards. Program. Broadcasting. (P3/SPS). This is a problem and must be resolved by the Yogyakarta Provincial KPID as a regulatory agency that has the authority to regulate and supervise broadcasting regulations. Based on this, the author wants to know what roles and activities are carried out by the Yogyakarta Province KPID in overseeing Islamic religious programs on local television. The research method applied is qualitative through descriptive analysis techniques. The object of this research is the role of the Yogyakarta Province KPID in supervising Islamic religious programs on local television. To analyze the research object, the writer uses the theory of role aspects by Biddle & Thomas, namely Expectation, Norm, Performance, and Evaluation and Sanction. The results of this study, Yogyakarta Province KPID has carried out its role in accordance with Broadcasting Law No. .32.Tahun.2022.dan.Perda Yogyakarta Province No. 13 of 2016. The mechanism of activities carried out by the Yogyakarta Provincial KPID in overseeing Islamic religious program programs starts from monitoring staff who carry out direct monitoring or from community reports, then data management staff who synchronize findings of indications of violations, after which a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) is held ) related to violations, then a plenary meeting of commissioners is held to decide on sanctions. The last stage is the decision. From the monitoring process, several obstacles were found, the majority of which were external factors, so a strategy was found as a solution to addressing the existing obstacles.
