Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out and to understand teenagers’ views on divorce of their parents, the growth of adolescence dimension of their religiousity after parental divorce and how the dynamic of this religiousity. The subject is two teenagers in Yogyakarta who have their parents divorced, in conditions of 13-18 years old, Moslem, having parents who have divorced for maximally five years and living in conductive social environment for carrying out this research. The method of this research is a descriptive qualitative case study. Observation, interview and field collecting are used to collect data. Qualitative data analysis in interactive model is used to analyze data collected. The study results show that there is a different view between the both respondents on divorce of their parents. The two teenagers are also different in their religiousity, before and after divorce of their parents. One of them experiences positive growth of religiousity since her single parent and social environment give motivation of Islamic values, whereas the other one have religiousity that reduces over time because the lack of parental affection and attention, inadequate treatment manner as well as social and family environment that cause lower growth of religiousity. It shows that the divorce can give different impacts. The growth of religiousity includes six dimensions: faith/believe, ritual/ religious practices, appreciation/feeling, intellectual/knowledge, experience/ethic and social pious.
