Abstract

Preparation of Ni/bentonite acid activated using a reducing agent from dragon fruit peel extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) and its application in the synthesis of one pot system menthol from citronellal has been carried out. The aims of this study were to characterize acid-activated Ni/Bentonite using reducing agents of dragon fruit peel extract based on FTIR spectrophotometry and X-ray diffraction characterization based on XRD diffractograms and to analyze the product produced in the synthesis of one pot system menthol from citronellal using acid-activated Ni/bentonite catalyst. The catalyst of Ni/Bentonite acid activated was synthesized by the wet impregnation method with the addition of dragon fruit peel extract as a natural reducing agent. Acid-activated Ni/Bentonite was successfully synthesized based on the help of the FTIR spectrum with absorption at wavelengths of 1049.28 cm-1 and 694.37 cm-1 which indicated the Si-O group in bentonite and the XRD diffractogram indicated the presence of Ni at the absorption peak of 2
