Abstract

The Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia, this province is often dubbed as a tourist city because of the many tourist destinations in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, it cannot be denied that the main economic driving force in this area is the tourism sector which consists of accommodation and transportation as well as other trade sectors that support the sustainability of tourism. Tourists visiting the Special Region of Yogyakarta are visitors who come from various regions in Indonesia, so in this study researchers are very interested in being able to examine how Indonesia's inflation and GDP as macroeconomic variables affect the growth of the tourism sector in the Special Region of Yogyakarta using the parameters of the number of tourist visits and the length of time tourist stay using the multiple linear regression method and monthly data from 2013-2019. Inflation has a negative effect on tourist visits and length of stay of tourists while GDP has a positive effect on tourist visits and length of stay of tourists. Simultaneously inflation and GDP have a positive effect on tourist visits and length of stay of tourists. Tourists who visit the Special Region of Yogyakarta are tourists who come from various regions in Indonesia, therefore the preparation of this study aims to be able to find out how the ability of the community to travel tourism has an impact on tourism growth in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Of course, by compiling this research, it is hoped that it will be able to find out how the resistance level of tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is to macroeconomic fluctuations and make better tourism policies.
