Abstract

This research conducted because the researchers' interest in the number of graduations from MAN 2 Sleman students who entered PTN (state universities) from year to year still considered less than the school's expectations of 50%. The aims of this study are 1) To find out and examine more deeply the quality of graduates in MAN 2 Sleman; 2) To find out the principal strategy in improving the quality of education at MAN 2 Sleman; 3) To find out whether the driving and inhibiting factors of the Principal in improving the quality. This research is a type of qualitative research using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques carried out by interview, observation, and documentation methods. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling technique. Whereas the data validity technique uses source triangulation. This research tends to use the theory proposed by Jerome Arcaro. In the implementation of learning using the theory of TQM (Total Quality Management). The strategic management process implemented by the Principal of MAN 2 Sleman resulted in several strategies being implemented, namely: 1) Campus Expo; 2) Parenting; 3) Evaluation for teachers every two weeks; 4) Joint recitation and prayer for students and guardians of grade 12 students. Some of these strategies will continue to be evaluated and improved to achieve the goal of Madrasahs, that is more than 50% of graduates who enter State Universities (PTN).
