Abstract

Shyness dominates the initial cause of many mental problems experienced by teenagers in Indonesia. This gave rise to anxiety so that he was compelled to conduct research. The purpose of this study was to identify the behavior of shy children, to analyze the application of loose part media in stimulating the critical and creative thinking skills of shy children and to find implications for the implementation of loose part media in the shy children's critical and creative thinking skills at PAUD Islamic Boarding School Sabilil Muttaqien Surodadi Nganjuk. The research method used is qualitative while the approach is carried out with case studies. Observations, interviews and documentation are used as data collection techniques. Milles and Huberman's model is used in analyzing research data. While triangulation of sources is used as a test of the validity of the data in research. The results of research in the field show the facts: First, the behavior of shy children in PAUD Islamic Boarding School Sabilil Muttaqien Surodadi Nganjuk includes: lack of communication intensity, lack of ability to analyze, hesitate to convey judgments, not yet able to solve problems independently, not confident, lack of curiosity . Second, various logical reasons for the importance of stimulating critical and creative thinking skills of shy children through loose part media include: the characteristics of loose part media make it easier for teachers to encourage children to ask questions, express opinions, imagine and be creative freely in children. Third, the implications for the implementation of loose part media in an effort to improve the critical and creative thinking skills of shy children at the Sabilil Muttaqien Surodadi Islamic Boarding School PAUD include: the child's social relations are starting to expand, cheerful, independence is more developed, starting to show an interactive communicative attitude, being able to express opinions and increasing a sense of curiosity of a shy child.
