Abstract

Developing children's cognitive and language is part of the development that teachers and parents should focus on to maximize. One of the things that can be used to maximize children's development from these two aspects is to use illustrated poster media. Children are happy with learning that is full of colors and pictures, making it easier for children to achieve the desired developmental goals. This media is designed to be as creative as possible to attract children's interest in learning numbers even better and developing their language using the storytelling method through this media with daily activities. The purpose of using pictorial poster media in this study was to evaluate its effectiveness and influence on children's cognitive and language development at RA Bina Mujtama. This research method uses a type of quantitative research with a quasiexperimental approach using an experimental class and a control class. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, namely 20 students at RA Bina Mujtama. Data collection techniques using test, observation, and documentation methods. As for data analysis in this study, namely descriptive statistical analysis, data quality test as a prerequisite test using the normality test and homogeneity test, while the hypothesis test using the t-test. The results showed: First, children's cognitive development obtained effective results with a significant 0.000 <0.05 and also the pretest and posttest in the control class obtained a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that there was a difference between pretest and posttest. So, the use of illustrated poster media is effective in developing children's cognitive at RA Bina Mujtama. Second, children's language development also obtains effective results with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 and also the pretest and posttest in the control class obtains a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a difference between pretest and posttest. So, the pictorial poster media is effective in developing children's language at RA Bina Mujtama. So it can be concluded that the illustrated poster media has an influence on the cognitive and language development of children at RA Bina Mujtama.
