Abstract

This research discusses the social taw hid paradigm of Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi. The purpose of writing this thesis is to describe in depth the concept of al-Faruqi's sosial tawhid paradigm and this research aims to provide a function of the concept of sosial tawhid in the dynamic and multi-cultural aspects of sosial life. This type of research is qualitative by taking data sources from the primary source of al-Faruqi's magnum opus entitled "Tawhid" and assisted by other literature. The type of data used is library research which aims to trace al-Faruqi's thoughts. In the data collection method, this research uses a documentation system that functions to see records and works from al-Faruqi and supporting sources. While the method used to process the data obtained uses data analysis techniques and the approach taken in this research is theological-philosophical. The conclusion of this research is that the author sees uniqueness in al-Faruqi's concept of tawhid. The uniqueness lies in its discussion which not only discusses the reality of God as the highest reality, but also sees human sosial life as a discussion of the tawhid. Through his efforts, al-Faruqi can give birth to a new concept in the conception of tawhid, namely the paradigm of sosial tawhid. The concept of tawhid produces four sosial principles, among others: opposing ethnocentrism, universality, totality and independence. In its implementation, al-Faruqi's sosial tawhid can be applied in two places, namely in the realm of family and the realm of education.
