Abstract

Tunalaras are children who have behavioral and emotional deviations. Tunalaras are caused by family, environmental, economic and hereditary factors. This thesis aims to describe in detail the form of social personal guidance strategies carried out by the teacher for students with hearing impairments at SLB E Prayuwana and to analyze the extent to which changes occur in students with hearing impairments after carrying out the learning process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method to describe the social personal guidance strategy that is applied to the mentally disabled conducted by the teacher. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews and documentation. There were 4 informants consisting of the principal, 3 teachers as mentors for mentally retarded children. The results of the study show that the forms of personal social guidance for mentally disabled children at SLB E Prayuwana Yogyakarta are: 1) conducting an annual verbal assessment, 2) home visits to support the diagnosis that has been made. 3) conducting guidance services such as special groups with several components, namely study groups, skills, and the arts through drawing, 4) then individual guidance. that there were several changes that occurred during the coaching and guidance carried out on mentally retarded students. From this coaching and guidance there are changes that show students with disabilities as being able to adapt to their environment, able to behave well, in terms of skills students are able to produce images that can express the emotions they feel, there are also students who can assemble hand sanitizers using sensors. As well as being able to interact well as did HU, DK, CN, they were seen to show calm behavior and be able to communicate without bullying. However, the changes that occur cannot make a mentally disabled child recover completely 100% like children in general, but in this case there is an increase in ability and behavior and there is a decrease in disability from severe to moderate. This has not run optimally because of a shortage of classrooms and human resources in accordance with their fields.
