Abstract

The incident of sexual violence that is occurred in the community, especially in the educational environment, raised to concern from various parties of society. The educational environment should become a comfort and safe place to study, but cases of sexual violence still occur in it. This problem attracted the attention of female clerics to carry out a movement to prevent sexual violence, especially after the first Congress of Indonesian Women Ulama (KUPI) was held in Cirebon in 2017. This research examines the role of female clerics in efforts to prevent sexual violence in the educational environment and the strategies used. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive analysis approach. The subjects of this study were three female clerics from D.I Yogyakarta who have contributed to efforts to prevent sexual violence, namely Nyai Khotimatul Husna, Nyai Siti Muyassarotul Hafidzoh, Nyai Maya Fitria. Primary data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with informants, and documentation. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from the results of previous studies related to the focus of research, whether in the form of books, journal articles, or others. The analysis in this study was carried out using pedagocgic theory. This study found two major points, namely: first, the three female clerics studied in the study have a role as driving actors in efforts to prevent sexual violence in the educational environment. This role is manifested in concrete actions taken as an effort to prevent sexual violence in educational settings, especially Islamic boarding schools. Among the concrete actions are: women and children friendly Islamic boarding schools, socialization of reproductive health and stunting prevention, halaqah around Islamic boarding schools, reciting the Koran with Bilqolam boarding students, socialization of SKS-2 (Stop Sexual Violence), studies of women's jurisprudence and reproductive health. Second, in making efforts to prevent sexual violence, the Nyai use strategies to overcome the challenges they face. Among the strategies carried out, namely: building networks with stakeholders, proposing the formation of the Bantul KPAID, transforming the concept of a women and children friendly boarding school against sexual violence, drafting the SKS-2 syllabus, voicing through the literary medium of novels, providing complaint boxes and suggestions. Third, the roles and strategies carried out by the three female clerics are evidence that female clerics apply the pedagogic concept of teaching and providing education to students and all participants in activities carried out as a learning process, so that there is a stimulus and response between the participants and the ulema, women called pedagogic behaviorism approach.
