Abstract

One of the most vulnerable groups to become victims of sexual violence is persons with disabilities. However, news of sexual violence against persons with disabilities is often reported sensationally. In fact, news of sexual violence against persons with disabilities should be able to pay attention to the rights of victims in reporting and comply with the Guidelines for Disability-Friendly Reporting. Therefore, the researcher is interested in analyzing the extent to which the Disability-Friendly Reporting Guidelines are implemented and the rights of victims are fulfilled in the news on sexual violence against persons with disabilities in the Liputan6.com disability rubric. This research uses quantitative content analysis method with a descriptive approach. The results of the analysis show that the news on sexual violence against persons with disabilities in the Liputan6.com disability rubric which was published from September 2020 to August 2022 has implemented most of the aspects contained in the Disability-Friendly Reporting Guidelines, except for the aspect of reporting coverage (28% of news coverage is still episodic). The news also fulfills most of the victims' rights, except for the aspect of disclosing the identity of the victim (11% of news has the potential to reveal the identity of the victim), and strengthening of victim stereotypes (6% of news confirms stereotypes of victims).
